Sport, Sport and more sport!!

Thursday, 2 July 2009

This is the last week of term - and I will need the rest! It has been a very active week for me. It started on Saturday morning with a soccer match - it was a great game and I even scored a goal - that makes it 5 for the season so far! I have never scored more than 1 in a season before.

Then on Saturday afternoon I had basketball training because on Sunday we had our first tournament. We were entered in an U11's gala day - but most of us are 8 - so we lost all our games but it was GREAT fun. I scored a basket AND a free throw. Was stoked.

Then on Monday the activity continued with my school athletics carnival. I took part in all the individual events - even the 1500m and ran the whole was - I was sooooo chuffed.

So over the day we did the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m runs, plus high jump, long jump, discus and shot putt - WHICH I WON! I had a great day but was shattered by the end. Tuesday after school was basketball training again, then swimming on Wednesday and soccer training on Thursday - I will get Friday (tomorrow) off before another soccer game on Saturday - good grief!

I know, I know .... its been ages

Time just seems to disappear, and all of a suddent this blog has not been updated for months. Oh well, life as an 8 year old is very hectic you know! So what has been happening recently??

Well I made the school swim team last term which I was pretty stoked about. I won age champion at the school carnival and then got to represent the school at 3 other competitions. I did not enjoy the first one as no one tapped my ankle to let me know when to start. But the second one was awesome fun - although it was quite nerve-wracking swimming in the Olympic pool in front of lots of people. Here are some piccies:

The other big event in my life recently was that mum and dad let me get some pets of my own - so I am now the VERY proud owner of two gorgeous white rabbits called Padme and Ahsoka. Daddy and I have made them a huge run outside and now need to get them a house built to go inside it - mum thinks Daddy got the plans muddle up with those of a palace!

I have had to go to lots of boring hearing appointments recently which is a drag. But it will be worth it in the end as we are now just waiting for approval for my to get a new type of cochlear implant that will just implant the high frequencies that I cannot hear. It is exciting but scary.

Well I think that will do for now - will have to dig out some more pictures

Progress....

Tuesday, 25 November 2008

So before we leave this blog alone for another 6 months or so, I will get in a bunch of entries.

This one is a bit of a laugh. This is me in swimming lessons since I was 3 until now ... I think you will call it progress:) Check out the diving style now compared to the uncoordinated jump done under extreme duress and only once pulled in my a 'helping' hand. The first picture was me when they were first taking my bubble off. I was NOT happy!

But just call me a slow starter - I LOVE swimming now and am up in stroke correction classes and loving it. Still a bit of a gumby at breastroke but am getting there.

Cute as a bee ....

Monday, 24 November 2008

OK OK OK OK .. it has been WAY too long once again since those lazy parents of mine bothered updating this site ... and once again there will be quite a few entries in order to catch up with everything we have been up to.

But to start with, here is my most recent activity - the school production on the Magic Pudding. Mum and Dad were very impressed with how professional it was - a pretty big production with the whole junior school involved. Of course being little then we were just in general groups scenes but it was fun all the same!

I was an old man with a fat belly in the crowd scene - and a bumble bee (ain't I cute:)) in the song scene for years 1 and 2 from out campus. I got lucky - most were fruits and vegetables!

The school got special permission to stage the Magic Pudding as it was the 90th anniversary of both the school and the book. But mum thinks she shouldn't put more general shots of the play on the web in case there are issues with it. So you will have to just cope with such cute ones of me!!!!

So that is all for now - more updates to follow reasonably soon.

The Gong

Saturday, 23 February 2008

And as a final catch up entry, last November we did the Gong ride. We didn't do thewhole thing but started from Heathcote and did the 56km leg - with me on my tagalong. while I am getting my mum's help (as she endlessly tells me!!!) it was still quite a ride for little 6 year old legs. According to Mum and Dad it was quite a ride for fat, 40 year old legs too!

The best bit was that I got a real pair of bike shorts for the ride - sexy aren't they?? I was particularly taken by the fact that I didn't have to wear any undies with them!!

I should also say that I raised about $200 for the MS society by getting people to sponsor me for the ride.

And finally Mum felt that, even though she looked shocking, this photo of the two of us taken at the end of the ride was pretty cute and rivalled the last blog entry. You can decide.

Just because we are cute

Mum wanted this photo in here for no reason except she thinks her boys are gorgeous in this photo .... well I guess we are not too bad.

This is why we live in the mountains ......

Saturday, 23 February 2008

One weekend towards the end of last year we just decided on Sunday to go for a hike. It wasn't a huge big hike for grown up standards but pretty big for my little legs. The weather was lovely and the walk awesome - and all only 20 minutes from home!! We went to Wentworth Falls and did the Wentworth Pass walk that drops down thecliff and along the bottom and then we had to climb a series of ladders (which mum wasn't overly keen on) to get back up. the legs were rather achy next day!!!

Book Week dress ups

Saturday, 23 February 2008

Just a quick entry to show you some fun photos of our book week dress ups. I was Sam I am from Dr. Seuss. It was a fun day all up.

It was all a bit scary really

Saturday, 23 February 2008

Back in late September last year, just before the school holidays I got sick. It really wasn't much fun for anyone. I was getting really bad pains in my tummy and a nasty rash. To cut a long story short I ended up in hosptial and was given morphine for the pain.

But it didn't help. Instead I started screaming a lot more and the rash got REALLY bad and REALLY itchy. I got transferred to Westmead Children's hospital where it continued. Eventually I fell asleep and jsut woke to scream every hour or so. Finally, after was seemed like forever, but was really less than 24 hours, I started to get better. But I ended up in hospital for 5 days as I was getting strange blood tests.

I was finally allowed home with a totally exhausted mum and dad. It wasn't until after I returned home that it was diagnosed that I had been allergic to the morphine and got loads of side effects!!! Hence the horribly itchy rash and outrageous screaming and various other strange things.

So what started out as a virus that had caused a rash and stomach pains (due to swollen lymph nodes around the gut) turned into quite an epic that none of us really want to go through ever again.

And the worst thing was that I spent most of the school holidays recuperating - no fair!

Catch up

Saturday, 23 February 2008

In some vain attempt to pretend I haven't skipped the last 8 months then I will do a few small entries of the major events over that time.

Firstly I have started to learn Basketball - and it is GREAT. I was a bit unsure at first and didn't really understand that I had to keep running up and back rather than jsut defedn like I do in soccer. But now I have the hang of it I am doing ok. And I thoroughly enjoy it too.

I also did a swim gala at the local pool. Just a bit of fun but I got a 1st in freestyle, 2nd in the noodle race, 3rd in backstroke and 4th in breastroke. I was stoked as it meant I got a ribbon of every colour!!

Of course we finished the soccer season and will be starting the next season in a few weeks time, and I cannot wait.

Gosh I am 7 already ....

Saturday, 23 February 2008

OK, it has been way too long since I wrote anything here. but I will not bother to try and cover what has happened for the last 8 months and will go straight into recent events .... my birthday!!! I turned 7 on the 21st February and had great fun. I had a party last sunday at the pool. Mum and Dad rented the big inflatable for me and my friends to play on and it was awesome fun. Even some of the grown ups (my dad of course!) had a go. And of course mum made the BEST cake ever - the Ben 10 Omnitrix with Upgrade and Wildmutt - how cool is THAT!

On my actual birthday Mum and Dad took me and Xander to Build-a-Bear in Penrith as a special surprise treat. We both got the coolest bears (well Xander's was a cat) and then went and had yummy pizza for dinner.

And of course there were pressies - lots of lego, Ben 10 stuff, a Robosapien, a proper basketball hoop, some books and computer games and various other fun items. Aren't I a lucky boy!!

I've been on holidays

Thursday, 26 July 2007

It has been a while. But me and Mummy went over to England for the whole school holidays to see Nanny and Grandad. We had a good time although the weather was not great. So much for the English summer! We did lots of stuff and saw lots of people. The big trip was to Disneyland in Paris - I will do a seperate entry for that. But to save some time you can just have England by photos for now:

A Night on the Town

Saturday, 9 June 2007

Yesterday we had a BIG day out. Firstly I had to go to school for the morning - it was a Friday after all. Then Mum and Dad picked me up at lunch time and we went to Westmead children's hospital. I had to have another blood test and an MRI on my ears. It had been pretty nervous all day. I was more nervous about the blood test as last time I had one it hurt and it took them a while to get the blood out - NOT FUN! But this time it was quick and easy - but it STILL hurt but I wa really brave. The MRI was pretty scary too - I had to lie in a big NOISY tunnel that kept making loud farty noises (how rude!!). The worst thing was that I had to lie still for half an hour! But I did it! I didn't like it towards the end as my ears were starting to hurt a lot from being squished by all the bits holding my head in place - but I managed. Mum and Dad were very proud of me:).

Once all that was over and done with then we were off on a BIG NIGHT OUT!! I knew we were going to the city and I knew we were having dinner there - but what we were doing after dinner was a big surprise. It was all part an early birthday present for Mummy and a reward for me after a yukky afternoon at the hospital. So we drove into the city. Then walked form Darling Harbour to the train station - we got SOAKED! The weather was horrible and so we get the train from Town Hall to Circular Quay. Then Mummy and Daddy made me walk all the way to the Opera House - before Dinner!! Of course what I didn't realise is that the big surprise was that we were going to see Circus Oz at the Opera House. WOW!!!! So we went to get the tickets and then headed back to grab some food before the show.

There are no photos of the show as we were not allowed to take cameras in which was a shame. But it was AWESOME!!! The people were really funny and did some AMAZING tricks. There was a funny strong woman, a bendy woman, a singing stuntman, acrobats, singers, jugglers - it was awesome and I was right into the whooping and cheering!!

We got home really late - I didn't know much about the journey though - I was asleep in about 5 minutes!

But a night out at my first ever circus was GREAT!

First School concert

Thursday, 7 June 2007

On Monday evening (4th June) I took part in my first school concert. It was fun. We (the prep campus choir i.e. everyone in my school) had been practising our new song for ages.It was called 'Light a Candle' and was very nice. But once I got up on stage I was TERRIFIED! Mum and dad said they could see how scared I was. But were very proud of me as I got down to business and sang along even though I was nervous. I have never had to walk out on a stage in front of so many people before!

Of course it was not ALL work and I got to play around for a bit beforehand with some friends from school. Rowan and Matthew were there. Unfortunately Charlie and Eli were not - they are my other good friends from school.

yah Ninja

Thursday, 7 June 2007

OK - in between the mundane parts of a 6 year olds existence, I do get treats. Like when Daddy came home with this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle dress up outfit. 'TMNT' are ACE! I went to see the movie at the end of the last school holidays with friends from school so we are all hooked now - until the next fad comes along anyway.
